Mental Health issues
The good part first, most of us accept the importance of mental health treatment as much as physical health. It's no longer taboo to speak about going for therapy or dealing with a mental illness. Opinion leaders and celebrities are openly talking about mental health and that is leading to a positive image around it. But there is a catch.

While there are many self-care strategies, many of us will not spend time, attention and money on it as a precautionary measure. Almost always, we are reactionary to this problem.

Here are some things which might help:

1. Give yourself permission to take a day off to make yourself mentally healthy.

Take a break when you feel like it. Do whatever relaxes you, and stop feeling selfish about it. Recharge now and you will find your mental and physical batteries both feel recharged. Plus, you don’t need to take that sick leave later.

2. Stay away from your digital devices before bed.

Use that time to take a good bath, rejuvenate by talking to someone you care about, or undertake any activity which helps you wind down rather than makes you overly active. This helps you sleep better and in turn, keeps you fresh the next day.

3. Chill as if you are on vacation.

You don’t have to wait for the holidays if you make breathing easy a habit. This will help you reclaim your life, even as you find our productivity levels go up when you approach work with a no-stress outlook.

4. Meditate.

When? There is an ideal zen saying,“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes everyday – unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour.” But no need to sweat about it. Just start small. Five minutes at regular intervals should do the trick.

5. Be mindful of your diet.

Colas, chocolates, sweets help keep blood sugar levels stable at times, but when used regularly they can affect your health. Adding leafy greens and seasonal fruits to your diet isn’t a bad idea.

6. Keep the bottle away.

Alcohol plays with your moods and your health especially if you are tense or anxious. Being sober may not be in fashion, but it will definitely reduce the chances of worsening your situation.

7. Sleep in time.

A good night’s sleep will help you feel much better and equipped to deal with your problems more effectively.

8. Get help, if any kind of particular thought ‘gets to you’.

Don’t wait till things become ‘unbearable’. If stress becomes a way of life, then contact someone who is either your family doctor, a friend, a professional therapist, or even a colleague who understands.
